The “Power of Yes” Summit is FREE! It will be a fun-filled day for the Community to come out to Mt. Carmel Church to receive financial education and learn how to build wealth through Home Ownership. This worthwhile event is being presented by Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Tampa Bay Community Development Corporation, The HomeBuyers Club of Tampa Bay CDC and Washington Mutual.
Our goal is to help you achieve the Dream of HomeOwnership by providing you access to experienced professionals. In the Exhibit Hall, you will have the opportunity to visit housing-related Professionals who will have booths and valuable information for you. The Exhibitors will include a Lender, Real Estate Agent, Home Inspector, Credit Counselor, and Downpayment Assistance Program. There will be door prizes given away throughout the day. Participants will also be able to open bank accounts, with the first $1.00 provided by Washington Mutual Bank! At the end of the Summit, you may be eligible to win the Grand Prize of a $500 savings account!!! In addition, the first 30 people who register on the day of the Summit will receive a FREE CREDIT REPORT!!
You will also have the opportunity to attend various “Power Sessions” to learn about buying a home. The Sessions will be held in English and Spanish and they will include topics such as:
1. Credit Repair
2. Downpayment Assistance Programs
3. Energy Efficiency
4. Budgeting and Financial Literacy
5. Free Banking Services
6. How do I qualify for a Mortgage? What paperwork does a Lender require?
Free food will be provided and a “Kidz Korner” will be available to entertain children (4 years of age or older) with crafts and games. (Please note that children will not be permitted in the “Power Sessions”)
Following the Summit at 2:00 pm, a Community Concert will be held featuring national recording artists Rod Z, The Mime Boyz, Lizzeit, Jarian and Brotheredge. Admission to the concert is $10.00, but the FIRST 200 PEOPLE WHO ATTEND THE SUMMIT FOR THE ENTIRE DAY WILL RECEIVE A FREE TICKET TO THE CONCERT!
SPACE IS LIMITED IN THE WORKSHOPS AND IN THE KIDZ KORNER, SO PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO GUARANTEE YOUR SPACE!!
